Angela’s son is Rev. Run’s first grandson and I’m sure he’s going to get spoiled.

Janet Jackson Steps Out with Her Baby Bump

janet_jackson_front

Janet Jackson made a rare public appearance out and about in London — and it’s the first time anyone’s gotten a glimpse of her growing baby bump.

via ET:

ET was the first to report back in May that the 50-year-old singer is pregnant with her first child with husband Wissam Al Mana, and only ET has these exclusive new photos taken Tuesday afternoon, when she was spotted out and about in London with a visible baby bump. Jackson, who is rarely photographed in public, was seen leaving the baby furniture store Back In Action wearing sneakers, dark sweatpants, a black sweater and a matching scarf and headband.

An eyewitness tells ET that Jackson arrived at the store in a chauffeured black Mercedes along with her bodyguard, her assistant and two others from her entourage. Jackson was greeted by staff, who shut the doors for her visit and seated her at a table to seemingly go over some of their merchandise. According to the eyewitness, she also strolled the store and took an interest in one of the prams.

Dope Exhibit Showcasing Traditional African Hairstyles

“I think it’s important to preserve black hairstyles…Black people, especially, should be charged with preserving their own history. ”

-Shani Crowe

“Rope trick,” “Rope twists,” “Boxer Braids,” are all hairstyles black women have been doing for centuries. We don’t “own” these hairstyles, per se, but they are significant and prevalent across the greater black culture. For many of us, it can be frustrating to see our styles paraded about without anyone acknowledging or paying homage to the originators.

That’s why Natural Hair Sculptor and Photographer, Shani Crowe’s photo exhibit, BRAIDS, is so powerful. Shani does an outstanding job of reclaiming and preserving Traditional African hairstyles, many of which, are still being used today.

Gabourey Sidibe and Danielle Brooks Hush Their Haters Up in a Body Positive Lane Bryant Ad

lane-bryant

The women representing Lane Bryant are clapping back against fat-shamers in their newest ad. Danielle Brooks and Gabourey Sidibe join Ashley Graham and Candice Huffine and Alessandra Garcia to stand confident in the face of online trolls.

Each of the women read actual comments from haters in the campaign is titled #ThisBody Is Made To Shine while rocking lingerie for a campaign that the company says aims to “spotlight what it means to unapologetically celebrate themselves in spite of any adverse feelings or feedback.”

Danielle Brooks responds to “no one should be comfortable in a size 14″ with “I sure the hell am.”

Representation matters. While these sorts of campaigns usually celebrate the smaller plus-sized women, it’s great to see Ms. Sidibe in the mix.

First Honest “Flat Tummy Tea” review

Model Tabria Majors Posted the First Honest ‘Flat Tummy Tea’ Instagram Review We’ve Ever Seen

tabria1

When she’s not slaying commercial campaigns, she’s stuntin’ on the Gram, slaying the selfie and yoga pics

tabriatabria5

But honestly she should go down as the first model/singer/actress/IG baddie to give an HONEST review of Flat Tummy Tea. Majors posed with the teas and put up the following caption;

“So this is the face I make when I see the posts about Flat Tummy Tea, because I tried it and can honestly say I saw no change. I would recommend any of the diuretic teas you can get from Whole Foods for around $5 instead of paying $36 for this. If there’s anything you guys want me to review I’m down”

Um… THANK YOU!

Flat Tummy Tea is essentially a laxative that, among other things, brings on major diarrhea. From TeenVogue.com;

“The nighttime tea — billed as the “cleansing and detoxification tea” — is where the real weight loss, or “detoxification,” happens. This is largely due to senna root and leaf. Senna is an FDA-approved laxative used to treat constipation and clear the bowels of patients pre-colonoscopy. It works by irritating the colon to empty its contents and is known as a “stimulant” laxative. Basically, ingesting senna is going to make you have go to the bathroom… a lot. And afterwards you’re going to feel lighter because you have successfully emptied out the entire contents of your intestines. While pooping out a pound or two might seem like an activity that’s innocent enough, the laxative process isn’t usually quick or painless. As ridiculous as it sounds, trips to the bathroom can take hours to complete after senna use. It’s why you’ll find warnings like “ensure you have ready access to a toilet during the day until you know how your body reacts to the tea” on nighttime detox teas.

During this window — and let’s call it a window for lack of a better word — users are likely to experience cramps, stomach discomfort, and diarrhea. The U.S. National Library of Medicine claims these are expected side effects of senna, but they also state: “Don’t use senna for more than two weeks. Longer use can cause the bowels to stop functioning normally and might cause dependence on laxatives. Long-term use can also change the amount or balance of some chemicals in the blood (electrolytes) that can cause heart function disorders, muscle weakness, liver damage, and other harmful effects.”

Um, no thanks… No thanks.

Shout out to Tabria for keeping it real! Not everyone is trying to get that Flat Tummy Tea endorsement money, thank goodness
