‘Power’ And ‘Woke’ Take Lead As The Most Popular Fashion Words Of 2017

While being woke is almost a constant state of being for many of us particularly in the Black community, the term “woke” has made a major impact this year. It was added to the dictionary earlier this year, and according to Lyst, it was also the second most used word in fashion in 2017. “Power” topped the list for the number one.

Considering the disappointing loss of Hillary Clinton to President Donald Trump and Clinton’s influence on the resurgence of power suits in addition to the impact of the Women’s March on feminist fashion and powerful slogan tees like Dior’s “We Should All Be Feminists”, it’s no surprise that “power” and “woke” took a front seat in the fashion world.

Many designers have used their influence for good this year by protesting change, encouraging activism and taking stances against racism, sexism and more, and that’s a cause we can all get behind.

From stiletto pumps to sparkly metallic booties to sexy thigh highs, “that are poppin and Cardi B approved.”

In an interview with Refinery29, Cardi B talked about why she decided to partner with Steve Madden. “I’ve loved Steve Madden since I was a little girl. Back then, I died for a pair of Steve Madden shoes. I love how [his shoes are] affordable but [still such] great quality. Every girl can’t afford ‘bloody shoes,’ so I like that I can partner with a shoe company many girls can afford.”

LeToya Luckett Is A Married Woman!

According to Essence , The singer and her fiancé, Dallas-based entrepreneur Tommicus Walker, tied the knot on Sunday evening in a lavish ceremony in Austin, TX.

The intimate wedding was held at Villa Antonia, a sprawling mansion in the canyons of the Texas Hill Country

“Vera Wang graciously allowed me to add a few touches to my dress as my own addition,”

Eudoxie Bridges, the bride’s best friend and wife to rapper Ludacris, served as one of two matrons-of-honor and the groom’s brothers, Tamarcus Joe Walker and Treoun Walker, were the best men.

Luckett’s bridesmaids wore long black gowns in varied styles for the occasion. The wedding was a black tie affair with a deep red, white and black color theme.

The couple’s celebrity guest list included Ludacris, Tank and Michelle Williams. Tank sang “At Last” as Luckett walked down the aisle to meet her groom. Luckett’s former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Latavia Roberson, was also in attendance to support her good friend on her big night.

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Walker!

Fashion & Style 411 : Seun Gbadehan

Her name is Seun Gbadehan and a Nigerian Queen living in Australia. After completing her Masters degree in Business; Seun has been working in the corporate business world during the day and at night a fashion and lifestyle blogger (www.justnueslola.com) where she occasionally share her personal style and some lifestyle tips. Seun does love fashion because it liberates her and makes her express myself more

Question 1: So when’s the first time you fell in love with FASHION?

I will say that I started to fall in love with fashion during my high school days. This is because I went to a boarding school and this meant that we had to be in uniforms all through school sessions. I always liked school holidays because it gave me the liberty to actually wear whatever I liked and not some boring uniform.

Question 2 : Do you have a signature STYLE?

I will not say I have a signature style because the way I feel dictates my style each day. However, I like to pick outfits that accentuate my curves, bright and comfortable.
My style is more about pairing inexpensive pieces with expensive accessories to make the whole outfit standout and unique

Question 3: Who is your favorite DESIGNER?

To be honest I have never really been a person who fancy big brand names when it comes to clothing. I am happy to wear simple and inexpensive clothing as long as the material is of good quality and fits me perfectly. However, when it comes to accessories, bags and shoes; then designers like Gucci and Louis Vuitton are my current favorite.

Question 4 : Who is your current STYLE crush?

My current style crush is Rihanna because anything she wears just looks super dope.

Question 5: How do you pick the ensembles you display?

When putting together my outfit, I basically plan ahead and already have a good idea of what the whole outfit will look like before I go out.
Trends also plays an impact on put together my outfit because I want people to be able to relate to what I am displaying.

Question 6 : What are some of your favorite boutiques to get your fashionable pieces?

These days I mostly shop online and I basically shop from stores like missguided, fashionova, Boohoo, H&M and the likes

Guess Who’s The Biggest Celebrity Fashion Influencer Of 2017

If there’s one celebrity who can literally slay practically any look and constantly push the envelope…Its Definitely Rhianna! Women of all ages use Rihanna for fashion inspiration!  Therefore it came as no surprise when Rihanna was named the most powerful celebrity fashion influencer in Lyst’s 2017 Year in Fashion report.

According to the report, Rihanna helped spike searches for various designers like Puma, Off-White, Gucci and Molly Goddard, the designer behind those princess-inspired tulle dresses we’ve seen Rihanna wear both on and off the red carpet.

Additionally, Rihanna’s Fenty Puma Bow was the most searched and wanted sneaker of the entire year! In March alone, users searched for the shoe every seven seconds on Lyst.
