Lee Daniels Settles $5 Million Lawsuit With Damon Dash

Lee Daniels finally paid Damon Dash his money.

If you recall, Dame ran up on Lee and went ham over the $2 million loan he gave him.

He followed-up by filing a lawsuit. News reports say both sides have settled.

via TMZ:

According to docs, obtained by TMZ, both sides agreed to drop the matter and each will pay their own attorney’s fees. As we first reported … Dame was livid about the cash he’d given Lee to make a couple of movies. In fact, he got in Lee’s face during a Diana Ross concert earlier this year … demanding the dough.

Damon’s next step was filing the suit for $5 million — due to interest and lost profits.

Lee made it clear to us … he’d settle the debt, and thanked Dame for supporting his projects when no one else in Hollywood would.

The docs don’t reveal any financial details … but based on Lee’s own words, it’s a good bet he forked a hefty chunk of change to Dame.

Whatever amount of money Damon got in the settlement, he’s satisfied with it. He tells TMZ … “I’m good. Just happy 2 people from the culture could work things out.”

Glad Damon Dash got his coins!

Ava DuVernay Signs $100 Million Dollar Deal with Warner Bros. TV

Ava DuVernay is just secured yet another bag!

The Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated director has signed a development deal with Warner Bros. Television Group.

The deal is said to be multi-year, multi-genre, and worth about $100 million.

via Complex:

“I’ve had nothing but beautiful experiences working with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner and Brett Paul,” said DuVernay. “They love and support artists in wonderful and nourishing ways…Warner Bros. is a terrific partner about matters of visibility and belonging for all kinds and cultures of people, which is our mission at Forward Movement. I couldn’t be happier to call Warner Bros. TV my production home.”

The move is slightly surprising considering DuVernay’s current and past Netflix collaborations, including her documentary 13th and her forthcoming Central Park Five series and Prince doc, which are all being housed by the streaming service. Netflix recently inked multi-million dollar deals with heavyweights like Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy.

DuVernay is already working within the Warner family on her series Queen Sugar, which airs on Oprah’s OWN, and The Red Line. The deal also allows her to sell shows to anyone, instead of one single outlet, and gives her the opportunity to pursue big screen projects.

“Ava DuVernay is one of the leading lights in our industry, a brilliantly talented writer, producer, director and entrepreneur whose ability to inspire with her art is exceeded only by her ability to entertain,” president and chief content officer Peter Roth told Deadline. “We have had the great pleasure of working with her on Queen Sugar and The Red Line, and we are extremely excited about the new stories she has to tell.”

Actress Amber Dixon Brenner filed a lawsuit accusing writer/producer Salim Akil of domestic violence and breach of contract.

According to the lawsuit, Amber claims the she has had many years of  “physically and sexually abusive relationship” with Salim, who has produced and directed episodes of BET’s The Game and Being Mary Jane, and created OWN’s ‘Love Is___’ with wife Mara Brock Akil

via Jezebel:

Brenner’s complaint alleges she and Akil began “a dating relationship, which involved frequent sexual contact,” about 10 years ago. Akil, according to IMDb, has been married to writer/producer Mara Brock Akil since 1999. Brenner’s accusations of abuse are numerous and harrowing. They include multiple instances of physical violence in the form of slapping, strangling, and forced oral sex. Brenner alleges, for example, that during a birthday party in Los Angeles’s Roosevelt Hotel, Akil asked her to follow him into the bathroom, where he slapped her, causing her to stumble backwards, and then commanded her to perform oral sex. Brenner’s complaint alleges that he then urinated in her mouth.

In another instance, Brenner alleges that she asked Akil to stop having sex with her during a painful encounter. “He refused to stop, saying: ‘uhnt uhnt [no, no]. Take it.’” In yet another, the complaint claims that on a patio outside his house on Martha’s Vineyard, “he proceeded to stick three fingers up her anus and started lecturing her.” Brenner’s complaint includes multiple instances of him slapping her during sex.

Her complaint alleges that he photographed a sexual encounter without her consent, and that he also photographed her after commanding her to lick a wall in an underground parking lot.

Brenner’s complaint also describes verbal abuse: He allegedly indicated he would dispose of her in a desert if she got pregnant, and said if they were married and she cheated on him, “he would stick her hand in a hot skillet of grease.”

Damn , These are damaging allegations. I love ‘Love Is__’ but this is real life

First Time At The Salon In 7 Months

Its been almost 7 months since Ive been to the salon. I was on a spiritual journey and during that time going to the salon wasnt important.

I experienced matting this time around after I washed my locs. If not properly moisturized they can even break off at the root. Using a good moisturizing cream made specifically for locs will help with this, and if you know you are prone to breakage you can help by supplementing your nutrition.

While part of loc maintenance is the retwist, frequent twisting is not recommended as this tends to cause thinning and breakage. I recommend a retwist every 6-8 weeks, but because everyone’s hair is different…Do You! Make personal recommendations based on what will work best for you and your hair.
