Rihanna Is Suing Her Father For $75 Million

Rihanna doesnt play at all when it comes to her name or her business and will defend both at any cost — even if that means suing the man that helped get her here.

via The Blast:

RiRi just filed the lawsuit, obtained by The Blast, against Ronald Fenty and a company called Fenty Entertainment. Rihanna claims her father, and another man named Moses Perkins, created an entertainment company and have been soliciting business acting as agents of the singer.

The star says she has nothing to do with Fenty Entertainment, and that “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”

The “Umbrella” singer claims some of the erroneous bookings by her father includes a $15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Staples Center in Los Angeles and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for $400,000. In both cases, she claims to have nothing to do with the bookings.

She also says Ronald claimed he ran the business offers by Rihanna’s actual label, Roc Nation, but the singer argues nobody from Roc Nation was ever made aware of anything Ronald was doing.

In 2018, Ronald tried to trademark the phrase “Fenty” for a line of boutique hotels, but it was shot down by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

Rihanna claims she has sent many cease and desist letters to her father and his business partner, but they did not stop. She is now forced to file a lawsuit and wants an injunction against her father, as well as unspecified damages.

R. Kelly To Sue Lifetime, Doesn’t Care About Artist Backlash

R. Kelly is on a mission to sue Lifetime and isnt fazed by artists who has pulled their collaborations with him from streaming services

via TMZ:

Sources connected to the singer tell us he’s not flipping out about people like Celine Dion, Lady Gaga and Ciara yanking their R. Kelly collabs. We’re told his only reaction has been to dismiss those artists as “phonies” who are trying to salvage their own images on the heels of the “Surviving R. Kelly” allegations.

We’re told he is freaking out about what he considers “lies” put forward in ‘Surviving.’ As we’ve reported, Kelly’s lawyers fired off a cease and desist letter to Lifetime ahead of the six-part docuseries airing. Of course, Lifetime didn’t blink and Kelly’s now pressuring his attorneys to follow through with the legal threat.

We’re told he has daily meetings with lawyers where they not only discuss the content of ‘Surviving’ … but also attempt to dig up dirt on Lifetime execs. The way one source describes it, Kelly seems crazed about getting revenge, and will leave no stone unturned until he gets it.

His label, RCA/Sony, has pulled all financial backing for new projects — and prosecutors in 2 cities are actively seeking potential witnesses and victims to bring charges against him.

It’s Official! Eddie Murphy Will Star In ‘Coming to America 2’

Coming to America 2 officially has the green light and Eddie Murphy WILL return to reprise his role as Prince Akeem.

via Yahoo:

Paramount Pictures is setting Craig Brewer to direct Coming To America 2, finally bringing to the starting gate the sequel to the 1988 blockbuster comedy. Eddie Murphy is poised to reprise his role as Akeem, the pampered African prince who became bored of potential marriage partners in the kingdom too in awe of him, and who traveled to Queens to go undercover and find a woman with a strong will that he could respect.

Brewer just directed Murphy in Dolemite Is My Name, and the star was eager to work with him again. The female empowerment theme of the original seems timely in today’s climate.

Kenya Barris is rewriting a script by original Coming to America writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield. Murphy is producing with Kevin Misher and Barris is exec producer.

In the sequel, Akeem learns about a long lost son, and must return to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda. The intention is to bring back the original cast which includes Arsenio Hall, who played the prince’s aide Semmi; Shari Headley, who was courted by the prince when he went undercover as a fast food worker; John Amos, who played her father; and James Earl Jones, who played the king.

There is no start date, but the hope is that production begins in 2019.

“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”

Said Kenya Barris: “Craig’s ability to create a distinct cinematic world with each of his films is not only impressive, but also what made him exactly the voice and vision we needed to bring this story to life. From Hustle and Flow to his work with Eddie onDolemite Is My Name, he never fails to blow me away. He is a true auteur and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on board.”

My Name Is Dolemite is wrapped, with script by Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski, and Murphy playing the self-made blaxploitation film star alongside Wesley Snipes, Keegan-Michael Key, Chris Rock, Craig Robinson and T.I. The picture will be released by Netflix.

Brewer is repped by WME and attorney Carlos Goodman, and Murphy is WME, ML Management and Ziffren Brittenham’s Matt Johnson and Skip Brittenham; Barris is CAA, Artists First and attorney Gregg Gellman.

Common Speaks On ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ : ‘I Can’t Condone That’

Common says that he and the black community failed R. Kelly’s victims by not listening to their stories sooner.

via Complex:

In an interview with TMZ, Common shouldered his share of the blame for Kelly’s continued success in spite of numerous stories of abuse. The Chicago native said that many people were willing to overlook Kelly’s misdeeds to remain fans.

“I’m guilty of that too myself because I didn’t stop and be like, ‘Yo,’ and speak against this,” he said. “R. Kelly’s from my hometown. At the end of the day, he’s a human being. He has his issues and we see that, but I can’t condone that and I shouldn’t be allowing that to happen. We failed our community as black people.”

“We failed as a community because we knew these things were happening,” Common continued. “And instead of trying to be like, ‘Yo. Let’s go and try to resolve this situation and free these young ladies and stop this thing that’s going on,’ we were just like, ‘Man, we rocking to the music.’”

Common is not the first Chicago musician to speak out against Kelly. In an old interview that was used in the Surviving R. Kelly series, Chance the Rapper admitted he regrets working with the R&B singer. He said that his hypersensitivity to the oppression of black men caused him to overlook the suffering of black women, particularly R. Kelly’s accusers.

“Tracee can’t stand Jennifer and vice versa, they’re like oil and water, they don’t mix well,” says the source.

“They’re just like their characters — Jennifer wants to be the boss and Tracee isn’t having it.”

Well, Jenifer posted video of a playful moment between herself and Tracee shutting those lies down
