The Oscars 2019 ceremony became a Spike Lee joint on Sunday night, as Lee won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for BlacKkKlansman.

For adapting Ron Stallworth’s 2014 memoir Black Klansman about infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan, Lee shares the honor with Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, and Kevin Wilmott.

Samuel L. Jackson excitedly announced the winner, and Lee jumped into his arms when he reached the stage.

The BlacKkKlansman writing foursome was nominated alongside the teams for A Star Is Born (Eric Roth, Will Fetters and Bradley Cooper), The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (Joel Coen and Ethan Coen), If Beale Street Could Talk (Barry Jenkins), and Can You Ever Forgive Me? (Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty).

BlacKkKlansman received six Oscar nominations including best director for Lee, best picture, best supporting actor for Adam Driver, best original score for Terence Blanchard, and best film editing for Barry Alexander Brown.

Lee received an honorary Oscar in 2015, but this is his first competitive win. His first Oscar nod came for his original screenplay of 1990’s Do the Right Thing; his second in the best documentary feature category for 1998’s 4 Little Girls.

Spike Lee and Jordan Peele Talk ‘BlacKkKlansman’ And The Power Of Film

The two film giants sat down to discuss their Academy Award nominated film, BlacKkKlansman, the power of film, and it’s ability to push past entertainment, reach the people and effect change.

“This is the type of film that can change how people think. This movie is so relevant with where we’re at in this country. We need more movies like this,” says Jordan Peele on BlacKkKlasman and how the power of cinema can push past entertainment.

T.I.’s Sister Precious In Critcal Condition

T.I. and Tiny have stopped filming “Family Hustle”  in the wake of  a bad car crash involving the T.I.’s sister.

via TMZ:

Sources close to production tell TMZ … T.I. and Tiny halted production Wednesday after learning the rapper’s sister, Precious Harris, got in a serious car accident in Atlanta earlier that morning.

It’s unclear what led to the car crash but here’s what we know … sources say Precious hit a pole, which triggered an asthma attack. The 66-year-old — who often appears on the show — was taken to a hospital where she’s now in ICU. Her exact condition is unknown.

We’re told Tip and Tiny were devastated and decided it was best not to move forward until Precious pulled through. T.I.’s incredibly close to his sister and so is Tiny.

For Precious’ 66th birthday bash last May, Tiny gave her a shout-out and said, “I hope you know how much u mean to me. Always been my road dawg. Love u much! Hope you enjoyed your day!!”

Prayers Sent Up for The Queen hope she gets well soon.

‘All That’ Is Coming Back to Nickelodeon, Executive Produced by Kenan Thompson

All That’ is coming back !

The iconic 90s sketch-comedy series is getting a reboot on Nickelodeon with show alum Kenan Thompson as executive producer.

via Variety:

Nickelodeon will revive the program — a “Saturday Night Live” for the tween set — with an all-new cast. But the show will have callbacks to its past as well. Kenan Thompson, the long-running “SNL” cast member who got his start on television when “All That” launched in 1994, will serve as an executive producer. Nickelodeon expects some former cast members to make appearances in the series.

The sketch comedy show “stayed in the zeitgeist for many years,” Brian Robbins, president of Nickelodeon, tells Variety. “People are really fond of it.” One regular sketch, “Good Burger,” was set in a fast-food restaurant with a clueless cashier, and served up the premise for an original movie in 1997. Kids also loved recurring characters like “Walter the Earboy,” “The Spice Boys,” and “Baggin’ Saggin’ Barry.”

Thompson is one of the people who remembers the series fondly. “It means everything to me,” he told Variety. “It was my first job that I ever had. It gave me an opportunity.”

Robbins was a co-creator and an executive producer of the original run of the series, which during its time featured Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon and Jamie Spears, among others. Many of the cast members went on to star in other landmark Nickelodeon series, such as “The Amanda Show,” “Kenan and Kel” and “Drake and Josh.” Thompson said many of the show’s stars remain close more than a decade after “All That” went off the air.

An “All That” revival would continue Nickelodeon’s recent efforts to dig into its past to help secure its future. In recent years, Nickelodeon executives have tested new editions of one-time stalwarts like “Hey Arnold” and “Legends of the Hidden Temple,” sometimes as movie specials. Such programs can spur viewing by both parents and children, as one generation tries to interest another in favorite pieces of popular culture.

“We think there’s a great opportunity to find the next pool of stars,” said Robbins. “We want to bring the show back in a real fun way. This summer, we are going to bring back a lot of the original cast and the cast through the years, and let them introduce the new cast of ‘All That’ to the world.” He suggested the program would be “a sort of mash-up of some of the old sketches and a lot of new sketches.”

For Thompson, the idea, pitched to him directly by Robbins, was a “no-brainer.” Thompson said he and Robbins have “always remained close. He is one of my second fathers.” Thompson didn’t hesitate when Robbins suggested he work on the new program as an executive producer.

“Every time he does that, he has been right on the money. He has done it infinite times in my life,” Thompson said.

Thompson is not giving up his day job on “Saturday Night Live,” however, and he acknowledges “my time is limited.” But he expects to have some say over the show’s tone and casting, among other things. “If I’m not at the table read, I’ll be on the phone during the table read,’ he said. “I’ll be around.” He hopes the program will have a similar role at the Viacom-owned kids’ outlet. “I think it should be a staple show for Nickelodeon,” he said.

I would LOVE if the original cast members make recurring appearances with fresh, new, talent.

There’s A NEW R. Kelly Sex Tape Involving Another 14-Year-Old Girl , That Has Just Been Turned In To Police

A never-before-seen sex tape has been brought forward involving R. Kelly and a girl that’s believed to be just 14 years old, according to attorney Michael Avenatti.

via TMZ:

Avenatti says the 45-minute long VHS recording was uncovered after multiple clients came to him alleging Kelly had sexually assaulted minors. He claims the video clearly shows Kelly engaging in multiple sex acts with a girl.

CNN first reported the new video’s existence, and says they’ve seen it. According to their report, the girl calls the man — who appears to be Kelly — “daddy,” and also shows her urinating at his request. After that, he urinates on her. CNN says the girl is seen on tape referring to her body parts as “14 years old.”

Avenatti makes it clear this is NOT the video for which Kelly stood trial in 2008 … when he was acquitted.

Avenatti says he has presented the video to the Cook County State Attorney’s Office in Illinois. He does not say when the recording was made … but believes it’s within the statute of limitations.

A source close to R. Kelly reportedly tells TMZ that “it’s unfair to accuse the rapper of any wrongdoing without first trying to authenticate the video.”

You can read Michael Avenatti’s full statement on the new tape below.

In response to press inquiries, attached is a stmt regarding our work on the R. Kelly matter since April, including the discovery of new critical video evidence establishing his guilt. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that this predator is brought to justice. pic.twitter.com/D0dGFzgXlX

Mo’Nique To Steve Harvey: ‘You Have Been a Problem’

Steve Harvey and Mo’Nique sat down for a discussion about Mo’s many controversies — and the conversation itself needs a 2nd one.

Here’s how it went down, via E!:

For starters, Mo’Nique wanted to express her “hurt” after learning Steve had spoken publicly about her.

“We got labeled as difficult because I said one word and that was no. I said no to some very powerful people. I said no to Oprah Winfrey. I said no to Tyler Perry. I said no to Lee Daniels and I said no to Lionsgate,” she explained on Wednesday’s show. “And the difficulty came in when people that looked like me—like Oprah, Tyler, Lee and I got to put my brother Steve on the list—you all knew I was not wrong. Each one of you said to me, ‘Monique you are not wrong’ and when I heard you go on the air and you said, ‘My sister burnt too many bridges and there’s nothing I can do for her now,’ Steve do you know how hurt I was?”

Steve replied, “I thought you went about it wrong. I felt that you had done yourself a disservice by the way you chose to go about it.”

Over the years, Mo’Nique has claimed that she was blackballed by Hollywood after she refused to campaign for her Oscar-winning film Precious without additional pay. She alleged that some big names attempted to silence her during her pursuit of equality.

At one point in the discussion, Steve admitted that he probably should have called Mo’Nique before talking so publicly.

“I’ve got a lot of stuff going on so I didn’t. When I did call you, I listened to you,” he shared. “But I began telling you at the very beginning, I think we’re going about this the wrong way. Now we keep saying stuff in the interim that keeps making it worse….It’s making it worse. The fact that we’re sitting here arguing like this.”

Mo’Nique, however, didn’t want to call it an argument. Instead, she called it a “conversation.”

“I’ve had to understand how to agree to disagree without being upset and that’s the thing,” she added when supporting her residency at the SLS Las Vegas. “I disagree with my brother. I’m not upset with you. I love you.”

Through their disagreements, Steve wanted to make it clear that he loves Mo’Nique like a sister. In addition, he wants her to succeed in whatever she wants to accomplish in Hollywood.

“I hate what’s happening to you. I hate what they’re saying that’s not true. I want them to know that you are caring, that you’re a great mother, that you’re an incredible talent,” he proclaimed. “I don’t like the fact that you’ve been blackballed. You can be un-blackballed. You’re too talented to have to worry about all of this.”

Before their discussion came to a close, Steve shared that he will try to facilitate conversations between Mo’Nique and “these people” in hopes for open dialogue.

“These people owe you an apology. You owe those people an apology,” he shared. “Then we can move forward.”

Steve added, “Looking back on it, I should have picked up the phone and called you more readily. I probably should have done it. Moving forward, as your big brother, I just want to help you Mo. I swear to God. I didn’t come here to bash you. I love you. I wish you well and let’s heal this thing and move forward so the world can see how great we all are.”

So what did people think of the interview? On Wednesday afternoon, “Steve Harvey” began to trend on Twitter with many criticizing the talk-show host.

I Love me some Mo , she tells it like it is!
