‘Atlanta’ Season 3 Has Been Delayed

Donald Glover has been making so many moves out in these streets.

He’s been doing SO much that FX just announced the upcoming third season of ‘Atlanta’ has been delayed.

via THR:

FX chief John Landgraf revealed at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Monday morning that the Donald Glover series is behind schedule.

When the network renewed Atlanta for a third season last June, it was expected to return in 2019 — but it’s become clear that’s no longer possible.

“I don’t know whether we’ll have Atlanta or not. The writers are back working right now, thank God,” said Landgraf, before PR boss John Solberg confirmed that “it won’t be for this Emmy cycle.” Joked Landgraf to the reporters in the Langham Hotel ballroom: “If you wanna see me cry, you can just come backstage.”

With Atlanta out of Emmy contention this year, it clears a path for other strong contenders including Barry, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the final season of Veep. The Georgia-based series, which Glover has described as a passion project of his, has previously won FX two Emmys, two Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, on top of being a steady performer for the network.

“As you might imagine, Donald Glover is sort of the king of all media, and he just has had an incredibly complicated life. He’s had personal things he’s had to deal with, from injuries to other things I’d rather not say publicly that just have to do not with his personal life but his extended family,” Landgraf further explained of the delay. “So I think one of the things that is just a reality of television today is you have to wait. We have so many things now that don’t cycle back on a regular basis. … From my standpoint, I wish for the fans as well as for us that we could get everything back on an annual basis but, again, you just have to make a decision about quantity over quality at a certain point — and we’re just erring on the side of quality.”

See The Trailer for Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ Remake Starring Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, And Beyoncé

The teaser for Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ remake has arrived and I seriously can’t get over how amazing it looks!

The fact that James Earl Jones is reprising his role as Mufasa is EVERYTHING with Donald Glover taking on the voice of Simba and Beyoncé as Nala — the live-action cinematography is breathtaking.

Get Into It

The film is scheduled to be released on July 19th, 2019.

Katt Williams, Tiffany Haddish, Ron Cephas Jones and Samira Wiley Each Win Emmys

Katt Williams is now an Emmy-winner.

The comedian took home the award for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Donald Glover’s alligator-owning Uncle Willie in ‘Atlanta’ at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday.

It was Katt’s first Emmy win off his first Emmy nomination.

In taking the trophy, Katt beat out Bryan Cranston, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sterling K. Brown, Donald Glover, and Bill Hader.

Tiffany Haddish also won an Emmy — Guest Actress in a Comedy Series —  for hosting Saturday Night Live.

All four guest acting categories went to Black actors — Katt, Tiffany, Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) and Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale) each took home trophies.

The main Emmys ceremony will take place September 17 and air on NBC. We can’t wait to see more Black talent get recognized!
