The GLOW Up 3 : Sundays BEST

To: All

From: Me plus some amazingly dope sistas

Date : Aug 20, 2017

Subject : Sunday Church Service

When choosing your Sunday church outfit the most important thing is to consider comfort. The point of church clothing is to feel free (not too free) and comfortable. You also have to consider the fact that youll be in the house of the Lord. So that Saturday night bodycon that you have to keep pulling down paired with a kimono is a no go. I am not saying you have to wear flip flops, shorts and ripped tees (even though they say come as you are), but you have to feel confident and think only about God, so nothing disturbs your feelings and thoughts.

Rihanna Gets Artistic for Paper Magazine

Rihanna’s style has always been to die for (well not die for but yall get it). She always keeps us guessing, especially when it comes to fashion, her spread in Paper magazine is no different. She’s giving us some real 90s punk rock in these pics, and I’m in love with the whole artsy vibe.

Paper Magazine can be purchased on March 6.

These Nike Leggings are Definitely A Must Have

If you’re looking for something to motivate you to “Go Hard,” there’s no one to better amp you up then than multi-talented Eccentric FKA Twigs. As the creative director for Nike’s new Zonal Strength Tights campaign, Twigs has created an amazing new vision that groups Olympic athletes, track stars, and dancers alike.
Said Twigs in an open letter for the campaign, “When Nike reached out to me about collaborating together on this project, I saw it as an opportunity to inspire people who want to use their bodies in a positive way.” Twigs goes on to share more thoughts about the intersection of creativity and athleticism.

“Since as early as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with training and taking classes. When I was three years old, I started taking dance classes at a local youth center and by the time I turned seven, I was training in six different dance styles.”

“You have to be incredibly in tune with yourself and focused to be able to compete or create – vulnerability and strength have a lot to do with this.”

“As an athlete, in your final moments of competition – everything you’ve done, everything your parents have sacrificed and everyone who has supported you are there in that one second. You have to accept your destiny and have both the physical power, willpower to do what you need to do.”

“I cast a group of amazing people who take their physicality seriously and have their own sense of style, in order to push people to be healthy and understand, through any genre of sport, they can be the best versions of themselves.”

“People don’t always see dancers as athletes, but we are.”

“As a dancer, I try to embrace my fragility and accept that where I’m at is good enough. Dancers are taught to always looking in the mirror, from an early age, making sure we have perfect alignment. There comes a point when you just have to let go and trust that you’re going to get where you need to be.”

“For me the dream is that you don’t even realize you’re working out. You’re just doing you, and then the results come, and you value them as they’re happening.”

“When I’m dancing, I’m not thinking about working on my abs or my legs. But if I train hard, I feel so confident in my body. Just through training, enjoying music, being with my friends, and exploring my body, all of a sudden I feel stronger.”

“Overall, dance makes you realize that there’s beauty in the imperfections. I think that’s what can make it most intriguing for people to watch.”

“I truly believe that success is when preparation meets opportunity. It’s the same with any creative endeavor or athletic journey.”

“It’s not about the moment you jump off the diving board. It’s not about any one beat you’ve produced. It’s about the moments before that – the preparation is the training, the hard work and the opportunity is the moment you reach your fastest time, how creative you can be, or how good your beat is.”

Megan Pinckney is a freelance writer and blogger ( The former beauty queen enjoys supporting the ballet, exploring new places, creating cocktails and tablescapes, and experimenting with beauty and fashion trends!

Question 1: So when’s the first time you fell in love with FASHION?
MP: I literally remember the moment I fell in love with fashion. It was in a CVS in North Charleston back in April of 2004 when I bought my first Vogue magazine ever. Gwen Stefani was on the cover in a black and white striped dress and I just remember thinking, “this is glamour”!

Question 2 : Do you have a signature STYLE?
MP: I’d like to think that my style falls somewhere in between the ruggedness of New York and the elegance of Paris, and within a Jonathan Green-influenced color palette!

Question 3: Who is your favorite DESIGNER?
MP: My favorite designer of all time would be Coco Chanel. She created classics because she understood a woman’s desire as well as her need. But my favorite designer of my lifetime is Diane von Furstenberg. (Which is why meeting her this year was such a big deal to me!!) Like Chanel, she understands a woman’s expectation for clothing.

Question 4 : Who is your current STYLE crush?
MP: Olivia Pommier @oliviafabuleuse is bae!!!!! Her style is SO simple, but SO chic!!!

Question 5: How do you pick the ensembles you display?
MP: My outfit posts are usually always outfits I am wearing to a particular event. So they aren’t just what I would wear…they’re what I actually wore!

Question 6 : What are some of your favorite boutiques to get your fashionable pieces?
MP: In Columbia, I love the Blake and Coplons. In Charleston, I love Hampden Clothing. But I get a ton of things from Revolve and Neimans!
