Michael Kors To Buy Jimmy Choo For $1.2 Billion

Luxury fashion brand Michael Kors has reached a nearly $1.2 billion deal to acquire footwear and accessories brand Jimmy Choo.

The deal has been approved by the boards of both companies and is expected to close Q4 2017.

via NPR:

Michael Kors is “trying to shore up declining demand for expensive handbags,” NPR’s Yuki Noguchi tells our Newscast unit. Here is more from Yuki:

The main product that built the Michael Kors fashion empire is handbags. But intense price competition and declining demand has cut into that luxury market. The Kors brand helped further that trend by selling a good portion of its wares in department stores, which heavily discounted prices, making it difficult to get customers to buy their products at full price. By buying the Jimmy Choo brand, the company is hoping to capitalize on increasing sales for high-end shoes.”

Michael Kors said in May that “sales at stores established for more than a year fell 14 percent in its fiscal fourth quarter,” according to Reuters.

Jimmy Choo announced that it was up for sale in April, the wire service reported, “after its majority-owner JAB, the investment vehicle of Germany’s billionaire Reimann family, signaled its intention to focus on consumer goods instead.”

In a conference call, Michael Kors CEO John D. Idol said he believes Jimmy Choo “can more than double its sales to $1 billion annually.” The two brands will continue to operate “very independently,” he added, but will together make up a “global fashion luxury group.”

The acquisition is aimed at diversifying the company’s product offerings, particularly in terms of men’s footwear, which Idol described as a “hidden jewel.”

Hopefully we’ll end up seeing Jimmy Choos piling up in TJ Max for the low low

Which LOOK Is Your FAVE?

Heyyyy GLOWERS , Im loving this uniquely crafted top from http://harlemheist.bigcartel.com/product/slum-stressed-tee ; we have Live- Vain Owner Rita Price vs entreprenuer and author Jeremy Washington rocking this tee created by Delvin Hull in today’s edition of #whichLOOKisyourFAVE.

The stressed tee has extreme character is definitely not meant for Plain Janes.

Both Rita and Jeremy paired their tee with a white shorts ….totally #twinning. Rita added the accessories a cap and clutch for flair.

They both rocked it well. So we cant ask which is YOUR FAVE , because this match up is to show us both women and men can SLAY the same tee.

Which LOOK is your FAVE?

Cardigans have a way of taking any basic look and making it very fashionable. Retailing for $120 at the Swank A Posh boutique.

This piece is a excellent way to add texture and that head turning effect to a simple outfit like the nude tights and top worn in Look A or keep it chic with a soft blush-coloured wide leg jumpsuit like Look B did.

For a casual dopness, maybe that you wear it with jeans and heels the way the model did with a white tee.

“We Have to Realize Our Power and Our Magic” Janelle Monae Says Women Should Start Witholding Sex

Sista has 0 Tolerance

In the May 2017 issue of Marie Claire Magazine, Monae talks on her thoughts regarding men who aren’t actively fighting for the rights of women.

She enlightens:

Until every man is fighting for our rights, we should consider stopping having sex. I love men. But evil men? I will not tolerate that. You don’t deserve to be in my presence. If you’re going to own this world and this is how you’re going to rule this world, I am not going to contribute anymore until you change it. We have to realize our power and our magic. Because I am all about black-girl magic, even though I’m standing with all women. But this year?

I’d rather have women point of view anyday over any of these superficial ppl on tv/social media telling folks to sleep they way to fame 🙌🙌

Question 1: So when’s the first time you fell in love with FASHION?

OCC: I honestly fell in love with fashion when I was about 4 years old. I saw Diana Ross perform in Central Park in New York on TV and her amazing style captivated me. Ever since then it’s been about sequin, color, glitter and just being unique.

Question 2: Do you have a signature STYLE?

OCC: My signature style would be anything sequin, but for the most part I am a Jumpsuit kind of gal.

Question 3: Who is your favorite DESIGNER?

OCC: I never was one to base style from brands or designers, however I love the details and classiness that CoCo Chanel possessed, and I really like Stell Jean

Question 4: Who is your current STYLE crush?

OCC: It’s a tie between Tracee Ellis Ross and Solange

Question 5: How do you pick the ensembles you display?

OCC: By ensembles are based on how I feel. Once I complete my hair and makeup in the morning, I can instantly vision what I want to wear.

Question 6: What are some of your favorite boutiques to get your fashionable pieces?

OCC: Lately I have been purchasing from AngelsVintageBoutique. She is a vintage resale boutique that sales on IG and through her website http://www.angelsvintageboutique.net I also shop local Houston Vintage Boutiques such as Leopard Lounge, Eado Vintage, and the Cottage Shop.
