Mathew Knowles Says Beyonce’s Career Benefited From Her Lighter Complexion and Kelly Rowland’s Suffered

Mathew Knowles kept it all the way real about colorism in the music industry and how it affected both Beyoncé and groupmate Kelly Rowland.

via Variety:

In the interview with “The Clay Cane Show” on SiriusXM Urban View, Knowles said he taught a college class that did its own research study on “colorism” in music spanning a period of 15 years and found that, “overwhelmingly,” light-skinned black women fared better than darker-toned divas, especially at Top 40 radio. Among the beneficiaries of the perceived bias cited by Knowles or Cane were Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce.

“In the music industry there’s still segregation,” said Knowles. “Programmers, especially at pop radio, have this imagery of what beauty looks like. … If you look back even at Whitney Houston, if you look at those photos, how they lightened her to make her look lighter-complexioned … Because there’s a perception and a colorism: the lighter that you are, the smarter and more economically (advantaged)… There’s a perception all around the world about color — even with black folks, there’s a perception.”

Asked by Cane if that prejudice toward lighter tones had any impact on Beyonce’s career, Knowles said, “I think she would have had — I think it would’ve affected her success. And I use Kelly Rowland as an example. She’s a great example. But you know, the great thing is, Kelly did exceptional outside of America, especially in Australia. Kelly sold over 4 million records. She just got off-script.”

Rowland has addressed the issue in the past. In 2013, in an interview with Cnikky.com, she acknowledge a period of insecurity about her look — even as it was coveted by many of her fans and admirers — and said, “You know what, I had great women in my life to help me overcome that. I remember I went through a period where I didn’t embrace my ‘chocolatiness.’” Rowland attributed her change of attitude in part to a conversation with Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles.

This isn’t new information. Stay WOKE

Cardi B SPILLS ALL THE TEA On The Nicki Minaj Beef

Cardi B kept it real street as always by laying it all out today.

It all started after Nicki Minaj went on her radio show earlier today and said that Cardi B got beat up by Rah Ali (and some other things), Cardi took to social media and set the record straight.

A few things…

Cardi says that if Rah beat her up like Nicki said she did, there would be footage out — considering there were several clips from different angles and none of them show anything.

Cardi also asks why Nicki Minaj is offering $100,000 for leaked footage while she also claims her cameraman has the footage of this alleged beatdown.

As far as “Motorsport” is concerned, Cardi says Nicki changed her verse a few times and wasn’t feeling the last change that came in the day before they were set to do the video in which Nicki added that ‘quarterback’ line.

Cardi said that G-Eazy’s “No Limit” collaboration was presented to Nicki first, but she didn’t believe in the record so Cardi took it and Nicki was salty.

“You’re out here f*n up your legacy looking like a f*n hater!” 😅🙌🏾👏🏾

“I’ve always admired you and looked up to you cuz I used to listen to you in High School but the difference between me and these other bitches is that I don’t Suck Your Dick”

“I have nothing to worry about nobody. What another woman eat don’t make me shit!!!” 😩🙌🏽

Yall ready for ALL these facts that Cardi about to spill?

Cardi B Breaks Her Silence On Fight During New York Fashion Week In ‘W’ Magazine

Cardi B covers W magazine’s Art issue.

In the mag, she opened up about what transpired leading up to the moment she was about to put them paws on Nicki Minaj at the Harper’s Bazaar ‘Icons’ party.

“For a while now she’s been taking a lot of shots at me,” she said of Minaj, jiggling her leg. “I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going.” Her breaking point came when she saw that Minaj had liked, and then unliked, a tweet disparaging Cardi’s mothering skills, something Minaj has denied. “I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter,” Cardi went on. “I love my daughter. I’m a good-ass fucking mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment? So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block.”

Its fun and likes til someone reaches there breaking point

This Fashion Brand Was Googled More Than The World’s Top Designers In 2017

Im sure you can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing dozens of your favorite celebrities and fashionista wearing an outfit from Fashion Nova, or seeing an ad from the very affordable fashion brand. And apparently their constant presence on your Instagram feed has translated into mega-success for the women’s clothing line!

Google recently released its Year In Search 2017 data and highlighted the top ten most Google-searched brands in 2017. While Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Supreme topped the list, Fashion Nova was the fourth most searched fashion brand in the United States. And quite frankly, they were the only affordable label that made the list and beat out other luxury designers like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Dolce & Gabbana.

So how did this dope, low-priced fashion brand like Fashion Nova make the list? It’s most likely due to the star power of some of its biggest fans. Celebrities like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Toya Wright have all promoted the brand on their own Instagram feeds. Majority of everything on the site priced at under $100, who wouldn’t be tempted to shop.

Favorite Halloween Costumes From Social Media 2015

Halloween, or Hallowe’en;  is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day

Typical contemporary festive Halloween activities include trick-or-treating , attending costume parties ,decorating, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, lighting bonfires , apple bobbing and divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films. In many parts of the world, the Christian religious observances of All Hallows’ Eve, including attending church services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead, remain popular, although in other locations, these solemn customs are less pronounced in favor of a more commercial and secular celebration – via Wikipedia

As ive gotten older i dont really care for Halloween but i LOVE the creativity people come up with when creating the costumes….
