Fatherhood : Wale Struggles With Connecting Emotionally To His Baby Girl

I know you couldn’t have missed it,  Wale’s new album Wow… That’s Crazy is super deep. It’s safe to say fans have heard what he’s been going through as he raps about his life experiences.

He said during an recent interview that he touches on many of his personal issues from being a thot to not feeling affection from his parents.

“I’m literally telling you I’m this troubled bachelor that’s like.. .I’m with all these beautiful women, trying to think what I’m gonna tell them when they get alone. I’m a glutton for women I shouldn’t yearn for… shouldn’t be tempted…or maybe I like to hurt, or maybe because I was searching to find me the perfect person…”

He said those experiences are what helped shape his new album.

“Now I’m carrying the bitterness… My parents never showed much, that’s like the foundation of where we’re going through the album. I’m struggling maneuvering through the industry. An industry that’s kind of broke me down, but an industry that I won’t let break me. I’m maneuvering through that, and I’m trying to understand my life better and live a better life and stay on the right track.”

Also during that conversation, he went more into detail about how his upbringing impacted him as a father, especially to a baby girl. Wale is father to three-year-old daughter Zyla Moon. Her mother is Wale’s ex-girlfriend, Chloe Alexis. “I never really talk about this about my daughter. I struggle, my baby’s mother is an amazing mother. But me, I struggle sometimes. And I didn’t know this was gonna happen.  When you have kids, you don’t know your true self for real, especially if you have a daughter. I didn’t know I was gonna struggle with connecting emotionally to a baby girl. I do feel it, but expressing it is so different. I didn’t realize it until I started talking to people and seeing professionals like, ‘You weren’t raised like that.’

“Sometimes how you’re raised doesn’t come into fruition until you start raising somebody. I never was like, ‘Oh! Gaga goo goo’ and all this other stuff. It’s love, but it’s how I do it. And the feeling is there. I know it’s cause I ain’t really come like… My mother never sent me to school [and] kissed me on the cheek, or kissed me goodnight… It was really just a fear. We love our parents and we respect them but it’s ‘Did you sweep the floor before I come home from work?’”

Wale Signs New Record Deal

Rapper Wale has signed the Warner Bros. Records roster and is planning to release his sixth full-length album in 2018. He arrives at the Warner Music Group label via Rock Ross’ Maybach Music Group and immediately drops a brand new track, “Black Bonnie” (feat. Jacquees), today.

The signing was celebrated at a dinner at Crustacean in Beverly Hills on May 15 attended by Ross, WMG CEO Stephen Cooper and WBR co-chairman and COO Tom Corson as well as influential curators, like Spotify’s Carl Chery, and other executives from the Warner family.

Said Corson in announcing the signing: “[Wale] is a pillar in the hip-hop community and beyond; with his cultural relevance and lyrical prose, he continues to elevate the game. Wale is truly a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”

“I felt their passion, commitment, and enthusiasm from day one,” added Wale. “They believed in my vision wholeheartedly, and I am ready to show and prove.”

Wale first came onto the scene in 2006 and saw his first release, “Mixtape About Nothing,” two years later. The collection’s nod to “Seinfeld” garnered widespread acclaim and launched Wale’s music career. Subsequent albums “Ambition” (2011), “The Gifted” (2013) and “The Album About Nothing” (2015) all charted in the Top 3 of the Billboard 200 while his 2011 single “Lotus Flower Bomb” was a hit featuring Miguel. Still to date my favorite album is “Attention Deficit” (2009)

STOP Racist Police Terror

It’s better to die fighting than to continue living in the illusion of freedom in modern slavery!

As a blogger i want to be me and write about things that are me. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t write about things that are heavy on my heart as well as things I love. This Freddie Gray and countless others death by the hand of the people who are suppose to protect and serve us …  is really bothering me. It seems like we’re living in 1940 instead of 2015 cause nothing has changed. All a cop can say is that he felt threatened and its OK for them to get away with murder. Sadly , the other person is dead and can’t tell their side of the story . Whatever happen to shoot to injure but now all they are doing is shooting to kill. The Justice system have failed us!!!!

Through it all, let’s remember why there is unrest and why there is protest. This is because Freddie Gray died after being arrested for no discernible reason. This is because a man’s spine was nearly severed and his voicebox was crushed. He asked for medical attention, didn’t get it and then died as a result of those spinal injuries. This is happening because Freddie Gray’s horrific death is part of an awful national pattern of behavior that needs to stop!

Why Baltimore is Burning by Kevin Powell via Huffington Post: “…every single time one of these scenarios occurs, we are handed the same movie script: Person of color is shot and killed by local police. Local police immediately try to explain what happened, while placing most of the blame, without full investigation, on the person shot. Police officer or officers who fired shots are placed on paid “administrative leave.” Media finds any and everything they can to denigrate the character of the dead person, to somehow justify why she or he is dead. Marches, protests, rallies, speeches. Local police show up in military-styled “riot gear.” Tensions escalate. Folks are arrested, people are agitated or provoked; all hell breaks loose. The attention has shifted from the police killing an innocent person to the violence of “thugs,” “gangstas,” “looters.” The community is told to be nonviolent and peaceful, but no one ever tells the police they should also be nonviolent and peaceful. Whites in power and “respectable Black voices” call for calm, but these are the same folks who never talk about the horrific conditions in America’s ghettoes that make any ‘hood a time bomb just waiting for a match to ignite the fury born of oppression, marginalization, containment, and invisibility. These are the same people who’ve been spent little to no time with the poor.”
