For The Culture : ‘Makeup and Breakup’ Webseries

This webseries hits very close to home with its makeup and breakup scenarios we all know too well. I literally watched it twice in the same week.

On the outside looking in, Brooke (Nicolette Ellis) and Blake(Omar Salmon). appear to be the epitome of #BlackLove until Brooke decides to ditch their two-year relationship for good for her old boyfriend from back on the day.

Being the catch that he is , it doesnt take Blake long to fall for someone new and move on. Once word gets back to Brooke of Blake’s new love interest from her homegirl, she decides to resurface and tries to get her man back. Putting Blake all in his feeling of who to be with.

Also stars Sean Dominic, Emilio Evans, Kamel Goffin,  Karmia Berry, and Olivia Gray

Directed & Written by Eric J. Dickens

Catch up episode one and two of Makeup and Breakup Season 1 below before season 2 starts

After watching the second episode, I was convinced that Makeup and Breakup  is a amazing web series that I would love to see on Nexflix or Hulu. Dickens has created a masterpiece for the culture. We need to see more of this on tv and less reality shows with club fights and twerking.Dickens is bringing back quality shows.

Season 2 begins Nov 1

I dont want to put the facts out there but too many cosmetics brands still haven’t came to the realization that skin tones don’t stop at peanut butter or toffe — that’s not news. Whats is BOMB is that Too Faced is the latest high-end line to finally embrace darker shades and it’s thanks to beauty blogger Jackie Aina.

Aina is well known for the beauty tutorials on her YouTube channel which has over 1.5 million subscribers, regularly highlighting brands who cater to women of color — and calling out those who don’t. Sis dont PLAY 🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♂️

I've been keeping a little secret for the past few months 🙈 but it's FINALLY time to announce that this year I will be working with one of my favorite brands @toofaced to help expand their Born This Way foundation line and create darker AND deeper shades for all of you 💖 I'm so glad that all of the awareness we've created about INCLUSIVENESS is finally being heard and I get to curate these new shades from the FORMULA all the way to the shade names that will be available to all of you in the near future!!! This is literally one of my dreams! And it couldn't have happened without all of you ❤️ This is what happens when you stand your ground and believe in your message and keep your supporters number one at all costs. I'm so happy that Jerrod and Too Faced trust me with this initiative. best birthday EVAAAA 🙌🏾 time to CELEBRATE

Question 1: So when’s the first time you fell in love with FASHION?

Ahh, what a good question!  I don’t think I actually fell in love with fashion until high school.  Before then, most of the schools I attended were uniform schools so they didn’t really allow us, the students, to express ourselves in that way.  I’ve always loved fashion though for as long as I can remember.  But, I don’t think I was able to REALLY fall in love with it until I was actually able to wear and express myself freely on a daily basis.

Question 2 : Do you have a signature STYLE?

No, I don’t believe I do.  I feel like style, for me, is ever-changing.  I wouldn’t even want to box myself into one style by even saying I do.  I literally style myself based upon how I’m feeling that day.  One day you may see me and I’m in a formal dress, with 6 inch heels, and the very next day you’ll see me with ripped jeans and sneakers on.  That’s just how different and versatile my style is.

Question 3: Who is your favorite DESIGNER?

Currently I’m really feeling Oliver Rousteing, the designer for Balmain, but if we’re being honest, I really don’t believe I have a favorite.  I’m really not a big label person.  I tend to just buy it, if I like it, and honestly as with my style, it changes constantly for me.

Question 4 : Who is your current STYLE crush?

Ohh, I absolutely adore BrooklynBlonde’s style!  It’s something about her style selections, that just mesh seamlessly with my mine and what I like.  She’s amaze 🙂

Question 5: How do you pick the ensembles you display?

I first think about where I’m going, then I try to piece together something that will be both appropriate and fab for that place.  Sometimes I have to try things on just to make sure it looks right, and other times I have to change because I’m not feeling some part of the outfit. lol I know I’m not the only one! But, the biggest thing I think to putting looks together is making sure that it showcases your own personal style or flavor.

Question 6 : What are some of your favorite boutiques to get your fashionable pieces?

I literally shop some of everywhere!  A few of my go-to places include Zara, Akira, H&M, and Urban Outfitters.  If we’re talking online, which is where I do a great deal of shopping, my go-to places include NastyGal, Asos, and Forever21.  (I find that Forever21 has a better selection online).

Question  7 : I personally follow and adore you.  I think its dope how you have Clothes and Fros. How did that start?

You’re sweet!  Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!  ClothesandFros started because I wanted to put something out in the universe to inspire.  Inspire people.  Inspire individuality.  Inspire creativity.  I am a fully natural girl, so I thought it would be a good idea to also include hair in my blog, since it is also one of my passions.  I hope my blog helps people to feel good about who they are and helps to give people the courage to express themselves in any way that they see fit! 🙂

Learn How To Highlight & Contour from these 3 YouTube Tutorials

I think it’s safe to say that a general consensus among the ladies that love to play in they face, is that we all need to dead ridiculous makeup trends for the new year (all things Kylie). Some actually hate the whole highlight and contour but me personally i love it…..i mean who wouldn’t want a slimmer looking face.

I love a good highlight and contour. Keyword: good. The main reason for using the highlight and contour method is to emphasize your favorite features. The art of using this method to sculpt, refine, and slim your face is like magic.

However, many of us have abused its power of bringing out our beauty. And when a highlight and contour goes wrong, it’s really horrible . Yes, you know exactly what I’m talking about: harsh, unblended dark lines, too light highlight that looks ashy. Basically, the greatness of this makeup method can quickly take a stage left as a fail.

For the New Year, i want to equip you with the tools of having your highlight and contour method down to a science, so you won’t fall victim to this sometimes deplorable makeup trend.

Im not a make up pro , so below are the ladies that help me out so much. Im still learning but these 3 ladies have helped me so much , i feel much better at my contour and highlight because off these beat tutorials . Take a look ✌✌✌
